Does Lifestyle affect the Property Market?

It’s not much of a surprise that the secret to overseas property marketing is more about selling the lifestyle rather than the property. Let’s face it, there are not many people who do not want to live happier, healthier and longer. But there is a lot of ‘overseas’ out there so how do you know where is the best place to make your investment?

Where to invest

Certain factors do raise property prices and others bring them down, but Spain continues to be as popular as ever, with around 40% of the enquiries from people looking to buy overseas property looking to do it there. Over 75 million foreign tourists visited Spain in 2016, which is a 10 per cent increase and just goes to show that the interest in Spain is very much back after the trials of the 2008 economy slump.

Spain is known as the one of the healthiest places in the world to live. Indeed, the World Health Organisation says that Spain enjoys the highest life expectancy of any country in Europe and a "near perfect environment as it is possible to obtain”. This isn’t just because of the fresh fruit and blue skies; it is because of the lifestyle! Be honest – when you think Spain, you think sunshine, sangria, siesta - good food, good wines, good friends. And it’s true – Spain is a combination of sunshine and fresh air, a relaxed style of life, a low calorie Mediterranean diet and the most fabulous red wines. Who wouldn’t want to live like that?

It is the promise of this wonderful lifestyle that gets overseas property seekers clamouring for a Spanish property. Throw into the mix Spain’s glorious beaches, rich culture, opulent history, and colourful cities, and it’s easy to see why the country has always been popular with foreign holidaymakers and homeowners alike.

Widely regarded as the best all year round climate in Europe, the Spain’s Costa Blanca normally offers up to 320 days of sunshine a year and a low registered rainfall. Its unique dry micro-climate and its warm winters are the main reasons astute Northern Europeans find this area so very desirable. There is a huge British expat community in the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol areas and there are a number of hotspots in these areas, for example Javea, which offers a near perfect mild climate all year round.

Combine the weather, the lifestyle, the breath-taking scenery, the golden beaches, the friendly people, the delicious food and the value for money and it is no surprise that foreign home buyers have taken a liking to Javea for their property investments.
